Our Son who is now in Yr6 had been struggling with maths since Yr1, at school he was put in a separate set to help him and needed TA support, we also placed him at another well-established tutoring centre, he just was not progressing and was below average. It was after his SATS in year 5 we thankfully found Happy Hedgehog after doing a search on Google. I contacted Joanne with my concerns who kindly carried out an initial assessment to identify where the gap was. I'd say within a month we saw a massive improvement, our son began to enjoy his maths lessons, he enjoys attending his sessions with Joanne as she hasa unique way of teaching. Currently in year 6 he has progressed and has been taken out of the support group as he has taken a great leap all credits to Joanne's one to one sessions. Joanne works efficiently and there is consistency with her sessions, communication is fantastic via emails we receive progress reports and homework, Joanne does not pressurise our son or us, I would say there is magic in her style of teaching we are so grateful to Joanne for bringing the best out of our son, he has also become very confident in school since progressing with his maths. He has always found it difficult to focus in lessons and was quite behind in maths, but Mrs Adams has been incredibly patient, encouraging, and creative in their approach. They take the time to explain concepts in different ways until he understands, and they make learning fun so he stays engaged. Joanne at Primary Tuition has been amazing over the last year helping to prepare our son for the 11+. Having weekly maths and verbal reasoning tuition can be tough for a 10 year old. However, our son has taken to it confidently and enthusiastically. I believe this is down to Joanne’s teaching. He will have lifelong skills that will help with his further education. I highly recommend Mrs Adams for Maths tuition, she’s is very friendly and seems to have a way of explaining things that just makes the penny drop for my daughter. So much so, when we went for parents evening my daughter’s teacher told us how proud she is of her in Maths, she’s seen a huge improvement in class, and how much confidence she now has. My daughter even got star of the week for her improvement in maths, all that improvement and confidence and my daughter has only being going to Mrs Adams for a couple of months! Jo tutored our daughter in Maths & Verbal/ Non Verbal reasoning between August 2024 and January 2025. Jo is an excellent teacher and made our daughter feel at ease right from the start. Her confidence soared within only a month of being with Jo and she was thriving as one of the top of her class when she started back at school in September. Jo is very responsive and informative outside of tutoring time too and always had time for us regardless what day/time when we needed advice. Jo is highly skilled at what she does and I would 100% recommend her services without hesitation to anyone considering tutoring for their child.
